Pre & Post Treatment Care

Does it hurt?

Microneedling treatments can cause some discomfort but aren’t painful. The vibrating effect of the Microneedling interrupts the pain receptors in the skin which makes numbing cream unnecessary. The Microneedling isn’t rolled or dragged across the skin like a dermal roller, so the microscopic punctures it makes are clean, direct and cause little to no pain because there is no tearing of the epidermal layers.

How long between treatments?

We recommend repeating your Microneedling treatments every 4 weeks until you achieve your desired results. For scar correction an average of 6 - 12 treatments are normally recommended with lasting results commonly seen after six months.

FAQs

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a popular skin procedure designed to rejuvenate the skin. As the name suggests, Microneedling uses a small, pen-like tool that delivers multiple tiny punctures to the skin. It may be small in stature, Microneedling is big on results! Microneedling devices are proven to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, treat acne scars, improve skin texture, minimise pores and provide overall rejuvenation of the skin. And it’s suitable for all skin types.

How does Microneedling work?

Microneedling rapidly penetrates the upper layers of the skin to produce tiny micro puncture injuries. This technique helps stimulate the skin’s natural healing process and natural production of the two proteins needed for supple, smooth and youthful skin – collagen and elastin.

Is Microneedling good for your skin?

Microneedling is a natural, mechanical process which works without the use of chemicals. It helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, improve skin tone and refine pores. Acne scarring and redness will also benefit from micro needling, and you can improve overall skin texture and quality. The process also helps the skin to better absorb skincare products for ongoing healthier skin.

Is Microneedling good for acne?

Microneedling is not the ideal treatment if you have active breakouts, but it’s ideal once you have cleared your skin because increased collagen and elastin production can improve the appearance of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and acne scarring.

Is Microneedling safe?

Microneedling is considered safe for all skin types and requires little to no downtime post-treatment. However, it is not recommended in conjunction with some acne medications or if you have psoriasis, eczema, open wounds, active cystic acne or keloid scarring, or if you are pregnant.

How painful is this treatment?

Microneedling treatments can cause some discomfort. The vibrating effect of the Microneedling interrupts the pain receptors in the skin which makes numbing cream unnecessary. Microneedling is not rolled or dragged across the skin like a dermal roller, so the microscopic punctures it makes are clean, direct and cause little-to-no pain.

What is the treatment time and frequency?

Microneedling is an intensive 20-minute procedure. Results may become visible straight after the procedure, however most clients will require multiple treatments for best results. Some conditions may require three treatments while some like acne scarring usually requires a minimum of 6 treatments.

How long do Microneedling results last?

You should see Microneedling beginning to work as your skin starts to heal within4 to 7 days after your first treatment. Within 4 to 6 weeks you are ready for your next session where the positive results will then begin to become cumulative. The collagen from a Microneedling treatment can continue to be stimulated up to two ears after your treatment.

How can I maximise results?

Microneedling combined with Signature Peel and Mask + LED Light Therapy will work to enhance your results by increasing your skin cell turn over, boosting hydration and collagen product. Our Collagen Kickstarter Skin Journey™ includes Microneedling, Signature Peel and Mask + LED Light Therapy.
